Bridge clubs and tournaments throughout the ACBL are struggling with returning to live play, so comparing this tournament's attendance to one before the pandemic is not really fair. We'll be happy if the tournament hits 50% of the 2019 table count of 3217½ tables (so 1609 is the target number; current pace 1738).

Thursday Top Flight Pairs

Winners: Nicholas Stock, Leo Glaser

An extremely tight finish for halftime leaders Nicholas Stock and Leo Glaser, whose lead of nearly two boards at the half increased to more than four boards by round 5, but then decreased steadily for the rest of the second session; the final margin being just one-ninth of a board, over....strat B and C winners Long Xie and Jennifer Hong, who stayed far ahead of the B and C field throughout the evening session and nearly grabbed the top prize!

Thursday Evening Swiss Teams

Winners: Treble (A), Young (B, C)

A lot of strong players in this Swiss teams, almost a thousand masterpoints per player more than the Top Flight Pairs! The top two finishers played in the final round, with Galbraith needing 17VP to tie Treble and getting only 16VP! Despite the abundance of masterpoints in the field, B and C winners Young scored an impressive 40 VP out of 80.

A strong penultimate round by event winners Rob Fought and Howard Haugom put an end to a battle at the top: for most of the second session the winners were leading or trailing by less than a quarter of a board. Second overall were B and C winners Daniel and Mary Eliza Balof, who my computer says were just an eleventh of a board out of the lead with three rounds left to play.
