Bridge clubs and tournaments throughout the ACBL are struggling with returning to live play, so comparing this tournament's attendance to one before the pandemic is not really fair. We'll be happy if the tournament hits 50% of the 2019 table count of 3217½ tables (so 1609 is the target number). So far we are on pace to hit 1752!

Tuesday Top Flight Pairs

Winners: Michael Mikyska, Mark Itabashi

In the Top Flight pairs, 67% in the afternoon merely makes you a contender and there is still work to be done. Event winners Mark Itabashi and Michael Mikyska (photo), who had that 67% in the first session, lost no time in grabbing the lead and keeping it, from evening round two on, for a win by almost a board and a half. B winners Thomas Anderson and Insa Fricker started the evening session as one of the hunting pairs in a very crowded B leaderboard, and their final round launched them into the lead by just a quarter of a board, and fifth overall. The pair just behind them in sixth overall in the tough open field were C-strat winners Bob Gagnon and Devra Drysdale, who won strat C by nearly two boards and nearly grabbed strat B as well!
